Kate is a graduate of the Universities of Oxford and Leiden, where she read for a BA in Archaeology and Anthropology and an MSc in the Anthropology of Policy, scoring very highly in her final dissertation. Harry graduated from the University of Cambridge (Jesus College) with a degree in Natural Sciences (Biological), winning several college prizes for the best results in his year. He has recently completed a master’s in Biochemistry, also at Cambridge, and is now studying Graduate Medicine at the University of Oxford. Barney holds a PhD in Vaccine Design from the University of Oxford, and currently works as a post-doctoral scientist developing novel vaccines for malaria. He writes: “Building a strong foundation in science is crucial in order to make sense of more advanced concepts and thrive at A Level and beyond. Once the foundation has been built further details fall more easily into place.” Barney has also worked in the Biotech sector as a staff scientist, so has a good knowledge of the career options in both Science and Medicine; he has also worked for over ten years as a professional windsurfing and skiing instructor!

Cara recently graduated from Oxford with a first-class degree in Neuroscience, ranking top in her year and focusing on Neuropsychopharmacology. She specialises in teaching Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics, in addition to supporting Oxbridge applications in the Medical and Biomedical fields. She writes: “I provide a supportive environment for students to increase in confidence and flourish. Sarah completed her Master’s degree in Chemistry at the University of Oxford, and is now studying graduate entry Medicine at Cambridge. Sarah writes: “I do not adopt one approach to tutoring, as I am a firm believer that each student is an individual and thus requires an individual approach to learning. Matt is currently in the first year of his DPhil (PhD) in Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Oxford having successfully completed his integrated Master of Chemistry, which he also completed at the University of Oxford. He graduated with a first class degree qualification, as well as being the recipient of the Downs Prize for Chemistry from Jesus College, Oxford for his performance in finals. Since September 2021 he has been formally tutoring GCSE and A-level students in Chemistry, Physics and Biology, in addition to supporting students in their admissions process to study Chemistry at university.

Megan graduated from the University of Oxford with a Distinction in her Master’s in Classical Languages and Literature (2022) and a First-Class Bachelor’s in Classics (2021). Her research focused in particular on the politics and language of Ancient Greek Comedy. As part of her Master’s degree, she was responsible for editing an unpublished literary papyrus. James graduated with a first-class bachelor’s degree in Classics and Arabic from the University of Oxford, coming top of his year. Emily is an undergraduate in Economics and Management at the University of Oxford. She has recent experience with the Oxford interview process and the Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA). Bart is a highly experienced tutor in Engineering, having worked as a researcher and lecturer at the University of Cambridge for many years and been involved in interviewing prospective students applying to the Engineering Tripos. Zayaan

Max is a first-class graduate in Law from the University of Oxford (St Anne’s College). Rhys is a graduate in Linguistics and Spanish from the University of Oxford (St Catherine’s College) and has worked as a tutor for Spanish, Linguistics, the university admissions process (especially for Oxford and Cambridge), and Old Norse for nearly 10 years. Victoria is part of the Faculty of Classics at Oxford University and an Early Career Fellow at Lady Margaret Hall. She did her BA in Classical Civilisations and MA in Ancient Greek and Ancient Near East Studies at the University of Basel. She then completed her DPhil in Classical Languages and Literature at the University of Oxford, and an MPhil in Theoretical and Applied Linguistics at the University of Cambridge with a thesis on French Linguistics. Tom has a Master’s degree from the University of Oxford and a PhD from Imperial College, London, both in Mathematics. He worked for four years as a graduate teaching assistant, teaching undergraduate Mathematics students a variety of subjects. He has over five years’ experience working as private Maths tutor, and has extensive experience in particular of preparing students for University admission tests and supporting with Personal Statements and interview preparation. Willow is a graduate in Medicine from the University of Oxford (St Hugh’s College), with a particular interest in Human Genetics and Molecular Medicine. She has been tutoring various age ranges for several years, with a particular focus on admissions tests, the BMAT and UCAT, and the Oxbridge application processes. Alex (何爱思) is a graduate in Chinese Studies from the University of Cambridge, and completed a Master’s in Chinese Society and Culture at Edinburgh University, for which she received the top grade in her year. She is beginning a PhD on female representation in recent Chinese cinema. A keen polyglot, Alex is also able to teach Spanish and French, and has considerable experience in preparing students for University entrance exams and interviews for Chinese and MFL subjects. She writes: “Having accumulated a lot of experience about what makes a good essay and a good University application, I would love to share my knowledge and help students. Alasdair is a Music graduate from Oxford University (BA Dunelm, MSt Oxon, DPhil Oxon). His interests cover music history, theory, and performance. In 2018, he completed his doctorate on the Canadian pianist Glenn Gould, exploring his legacy as a musician and cultural icon. He has been tutoring piano for ten years, and has two diplomas in piano performance (DipABRSM and LRSM); he also plays organ, guitar and saxophone. He writes: “Throughout my years as a tutor, I have sought to tailor my teaching method to the needs of the individual student, understanding that kindling a passion for music is just as important as examination success. Lucy has a first class BA in Musicology from St Hugh’s College, University of Oxford, having focused particularly on ethnomusicology, musico-political studies and pedagogical theory. During her time at University, she focused particularly on developing her teaching skills and took part in a practice and pedagogy module; she awarded an Academic Scholarship by the University for her work. Alongside her studies, she worked for the Isis Magazine as a member of the investigate journalism team and had several pieces of writing published. She writes: “I believe that successful teaching is that which is tailored to the needs, abilities and aspirations of the individual. I understand that some students are keen to make quick progress and this is very much a central part of my own agenda as a teacher. However, I make sure to not rush my students and to find a pace that suits them.”

Ben is a graduate in Natural Sciences (Physical) from the University of Cambridge (St Catharine’s College). His degree includes Physics, Maths, Chemistry and Material Sciences. He has conducted mock Oxbridge interviews with younger students, mostly for those applying for Natural Sciences at Cambridge, but also for other Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry related courses. He writes: “My tutoring and interview styles are similar to the approach taken in Cambridge supervisions, as I strongly believe that only when you can explain something to others do you fully understand it, and often attempting to explain something can reveal the gaps in your knowledge.” Ben also studied Physics and Material Sciences in his first year and Mathematics for the first two years of his degree.

Bea gained a BA in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge; she specialised in Neuroscience and Psychology but also studied Chemistry, Biology of Cells, Pathology and Physiology. She is now studying postgraduate Medicine at the University of Oxford. She is experienced and skilled at helping others with their Oxbridge applications, having successfully been through the process twice herself. She writes: “I really enjoy working with young people and tutoring others to help them understand their subjects, and hopefully become passionate about them.” Bea also enjoys keeping active, reading and singing in choirs.

Jeremy is a graduate of the University of Cambridge, where he studied Philosophy. He has tutored for Philosophy admissions at both Oxford and Cambridge. He writes: ” I am passionate about helping students to reach their full potential. By tailoring each lesson to the student, I aim to ensure that each tutorial session is both personal and academically rigorous. To this end, I draw inspiration from the weekly one-on-one supervisions I received during my time at Cambridge and aim to implement the same individualised style in my own teaching.” Outside of academia, Jeremy played lacrosse for the university team during his time at Cambridge.

Zac has a First-Class BA degree in Philosophy and Theology and Master’s in Philosophical Theology, both from the University of Oxford. He is now pursuing a DPhil in Theology (Science and Religion) at Oxford. For his BA, he was awarded the Gibbs Prize for achieving the best performance in Philosophy in his subject cohort, and took a wide range of subjects, including Metaphysics, Philosophy of Mind and Philosophy of Religion. For his Master’s, in which he achieved a Distinction, he was awarded a Clarendon Scholarship. He has conducted several mock interviews for students applying for Philosophy and Theology subjects, and has also delivered lectures and Oxbridge admissions preparation guidance to schools and colleges, including supporting with the TSA. He writes: “My tutorials are always tailored to the student; I aim to refine the student’s knowledge so that they are in the best position to achieve their aims. Through this process, I ensure that the student gains confidence in their academic abilities so that they can think independently and develop their own academic voice.” In his spare time, Zac is also a keen footballer.

Joe has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Astrophysics from the University of Cambridge; he ranked in the top 15% of his cohort at undergraduate level, and averaged 80 in his Master’s year, achieving a First Class with Distinction. He has experience in preparing students for applications to study Maths and Physics at University, helping students to prepare for admissions tests and interviews. Joe also delivered online workshops on behalf of Lucy Cavendish College to help students with their application for Physical Natural Sciences at Cambridge, and has run workshops for the NSAA and STEP papers. He writes: “I make it a priority to establish a friendly learning environment, which I believe is instrumental in ensuring students effectively engage with challenging material. During these sessions, I probe students’ understanding of difficult concepts from numerous avenues to ensure their knowledge foundations are rigid enough for even the top Universities.”

Jed is a PhD Student studying Quantum Information Theory at the University of Cambridge (St John’s College). Previously, he obtained a First Class Bachelor’s in Physics and Philosophy from the University of Oxford, and a Master’s in Mathematical and Theoretical Physics. Jed is an experienced tutor for Mathematics, Physics and Oxbridge Admissions. He writes: “As a tutor, I foster the skills and intuition which make a great scientist, so that my students develop confidence in their subject. To me, problem-solving is both a craft, and a pastime. This is why I find teaching so important, and why I’ll go to great lengths to pass on my enthusiasm.”

Susannah graduated with a first-class degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) from the University of Oxford (Somerville College). She is well aware of the intricacies of applying to Oxbridge, and has experience helping students to write their personal statements, practise skills for the TSA, and prepare for the interviews. She writes: “Completing the admissions process myself has given me a unique understanding of potential pitfalls as well as solutions to overcome them. Experience combined with detailed subject knowledge makes me confident that I can assist you in feeling fully prepared and secure in your own abilities.”

Adam is an Undergraduate and Masters graduate from the University of Oxford in PPE (Philosophy, Politics and Economics) and Modern Middle Eastern Studies respectively. He has been a private tutor for four years, and has a wide range of teaching and educational consulting experience. Adam is experienced in supporting students with admissions interviews, admissions tests and personal statements. At Oxford, he worked as an ambassador for his college, helping underprivileged school students with their applications to Oxford, and as a student ambassador for the prestigious Uniq summer school, developing and running sessions to improve students’ academic ability and their applications. He writes: “I have been involved in private tutoring for prospective Oxbridge applicants, helping them to achieve offers from their desired universities.”

Freya recently graduated from the Worcester College, University of Oxford in Psychology and Linguistics. She has since worked as a special education needs teaching assistant in London before getting a job as an Assistant Psychologist doing assessments on traumatised adopted children in the UK. She has been tutoring for over five years and is familiar with both PPL and Psychology admissions processes.

Mihaela is a graduate of the University of Oxford (Magdalen College) with a master’s degree in Aesthetics. She has also studied Neuroscience at King’s College London, Cognitive Science at the Universities of Vienna and Ljubljana, and Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Novi Sad. Her bachelor’s is in Architectural Engineering. She writes: “My experience is extensive and cross-disciplinary. I have taught small, mid-size and large classes at Sixth Form and colleges, held one-on-one tutorials, led preparation processes from projects to exams, prepared students for Oxbridge and Ivy League admissions and interviews, and delivered general workshops and classes in critical reasoning, academic writing and leadership skills.” Mihaela currently lives in London, working as an educator and consultant and writing her first book.

Amber graduated with a First-Class degree in Experimental Psychology from the Oxford University, and is currently working as an Assistant Psychologist for the NHS. She is experienced in tutoring Psychology and in preparing students for University applications. She writes: “I consider myself to be a friendly, bubbly person who can quickly build positive rapport with others. I believe the key element to a successful tutor-tutee partnership is developing a good relationship allowing the student to feel comfortable communicating their academic needs. Tara is a postgraduate studying Developmental Neuroscience and Psychopathology at UCL and Yale, after obtaining a first-class undergraduate degree in Psychological and Behavioural Sciences from the University of Cambridge (St John’s College). She writes: “I am able to achieve a good rapport with students by ensuring I am a friendly, approachable and flexible figure who can support them fully in their academics and help them reach their individual potential. Balancing my various commitments means I have developed extremely good organisational skills, including excellent time management and efficient online communication.” Tara has also acted as a paid and volunteer coach, teaching netball and wheelchair basketball to large groups of young people.

Ian graduated with a First-Class BA and Distinction in his MPhil in Theology, Religion and Philosophy of Religion from the University of Cambridge. His research specialised in the philosophy of cognitive science and the philosophy of mind; he is currently applying to study a PhD. He is able to support students in applying for Philosophy and Theology subjects, including with interview preparation. He writes: “I am an experienced, reliable, and punctual tutor that delivers a personalised service catering to the individual needs of my students in an engaging way.” Ian has also balanced classroom teaching roles alongside academic work and completed a TEFL course.

Dan is a graduate of Cambridge University, where I was rewarded the prestigious Sheikh Zayed Prize for Islamic Studies after completing a BA in Religious Studies. Since graduating, he has worked as a private tutor as well as a professional actor. He has over three hundred hours’ experience in online tuition, with the equivalent in face-to-face tuition. Dan is experienced in supporting students with University applications for Theology, Religion and Philosophy subjects. He writes: “I love helping students reach their potential. I produce tailored session plans for each individual student, and regular updates on their progress along the way.” Dan is a keen football fan and writer in his spare time.
